Non communicable diseases (NCD’s) have emerged as a matter of global healthcare concern. India is in the midst of an NCD epidemic. Of all deaths in India, 53% are attributed to chronic illnesses. The four major NCD’s, as defined by World Health Organisation, are cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.Studies show that health statistics of employees in Corporate India are alarming.
With the objective of reaching out to a larger group of corporate employees Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and IWN Madhya Pradesh along with Dr Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education (DRFHE) conducted 'Awareness for Life Program'. A session on "Diabetes" was organized at Omega Renk Bearings Pvt.Ltd. Screening for diabetes was also done along with session. The speaker for the session was Dr Sachin Chittawar, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.
